ABOUT RSS FEED
When you first hear the term "RSS" it was most likely used with other terms like RSS feeds, RSS reader and RSS feed reader. A similar term often used is Web Syndication.
definition (from Google Help Centers)
"An RSS feed is a regularly updated summary of web content, along with links to full versions of that content. When you subscribe to a given website's feed by using a feed reader, you'll receive a summary of new content from that website."

I was a little intimidated by the term at first, but once I found out what the acronym stood for, it put me a little more at ease... According to Wikipedia, RSS is most commonly translated as Really Simple Syndication. So obviously there's no need to fret since the first 2 letters mean "Really Simple", right?
RSS is so simple that there's even a web-page devoted to the topic- WhatIsRSS.com. Though the author of the web-page has a different opinion about the "RSS" translation, (Rich Site Summary), the definition is the same as Wikipedia and Google Help. The author answers the question: "What Is RSS?... a format for delivering regularly changing web content"

step 2
Once you've got your Google reader up and running, look for the RSS symbol on your favorite sites...
This icon is commonly displayed for RSS functions. A website visitor becomes a subscriber by clicking on the icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process.
